Program – State of the Court System, Hon. Daniel Wilson
Rome City Court Judge Daniel
Wilson gave an interesting summary of the court system as it stands today. Judge Wilson commented on how much the
court has grown in his time on the bench, some changes for the good, some not
so. He pointed out that the
judicial system is still, for the most part, addressing problems on a ‘band
aid’ approach instead of looking at the underlying problems and addressing
those problems. He noted that in
years past, schools, churches and family structures had a much bigger impact
and power over young people than today.
Now, the respect for institutions is lacking and people are looking to
the courts and judicial systems to solve these problems. In all, it was a very frank and honest
discussion of the court system from a man who has literally seen it all in his
time on the bench. Thank you Judge
Wilson!
